Can the label release the remix on streaming platforms indefinitely under a flat fee deal?

Yes. The flat-fee buyout grants a perpetual, royalty-free license (or full ownership transfer) of the remix for all commercial uses including streaming, downloads, and physical release. The territory and duration are defined in the agreement — typically worldwide and in perpetuity.

Does the remixer still get credited on the release?

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the Advance + Royalty version?
The Advance + Royalty version pays upfront and gives the remixer ongoing participation. This one pays once. If the remix later earns significant sync fees, the remixer sees none of it, which is exactly why some remixers will not accept a buyout.

Can the remixer use it in their portfolio or DJ sets?
Negotiable, and covered in the template. You can grant a limited self-promotional right while keeping all commercial rights.

What if I do not like the remix?
The approval clause ties payment to an approved delivery, and the revision provisions let you require changes before final acceptance.

Does this work with a remixer outside the US?
Yes. It is drafted under US law and specifies US jurisdiction, which is standard. Enforcement abroad is a separate practical question as the fee gets larger.

What if the remixer brings in an outside sample?
Then it needs clearing on both sides before release: the master recording license and the composition license. The warranty here does not substitute for the clearance.
